Redaction & Victim Protection Policy

Our commitment to protecting victim privacy while maintaining public access to verified information.

Our Commitment to Victim Protection

The Epstein case involves serious crimes against vulnerable individuals. We take our responsibility to protect victims seriously and have established clear policies governing what information we publish.

What We Redact

Victim-Identifying Information

  • We do not publish the names of alleged victims unless they have publicly identified themselves (e.g., Virginia Giuffre, who has spoken publicly)
  • We do not publish personal contact information, addresses, or other identifying details of victims
  • We do not publish photographs that could identify victims who have not chosen to be public

Minor-Identifying Information

  • We never publish identifying information about individuals who were minors at the time of the alleged offenses, unless they have publicly self-identified as adults
  • We do not describe alleged abuse in graphic or gratuitous detail

Sensitive Personal Information

  • We do not publish personal contact information (phone numbers, email addresses, home addresses) of any living individual
  • We redact information that could endanger the physical safety of any person

What We Do Publish

  • Names of individuals who are public figures and are named in public court documents, in the context in which those documents name them
  • Information from court records that is a matter of public record
  • Factual reporting from verified sources about the legal proceedings
  • Statements that individuals have made publicly

Important Distinctions

  • Being named in a document is not an accusation. We always provide context for why a name appears in court records.
  • Allegations are not facts. We clearly label all unproven claims and distinguish between allegations and established facts.
  • Association is not guilt. Having a social or professional connection to Jeffrey Epstein does not imply knowledge of or participation in criminal activity.

Compliance

Our redaction practices are informed by:

  • The Crime Victims' Rights Act (18 U.S.C. § 3771)
  • Journalistic ethical standards regarding victim identification
  • Court-ordered sealing and redaction requirements
  • General principles of responsible disclosure
